Cheshmak Div | چشمک دیو

چشمک دیو در باورهای مزدیسنا، دیوی است که موجب گردباد، زمین لرزه و ویرانی می شود و با ابر و باران سودمند نیز در ستیز است. در بندهش گفته شده است که چشمک دیو با به هم زدن یک چشم، زمین لرزه و با به هم زدن چشم دیگر، گردباد ایجاد می کند. در اسطوره زندگی زردشت نقش این دیو این است که شهر و ده را ویران می کند و درختان را درهم می شکند تا مایع مقدسی را که فروَهر و گوهر تن زردشت در آن است از میان ببرد.

‏‏In the belief of ancient Iranian people, [Cheshmak-Div] (meaning the winking demon) was the name of a demon that could cause tornadoes, earthquakes, and destruction. People believed that this demon was in constant conflict with clouds and rain. It is told in Bundahishn that Cheshmak Div can cause earthquakes with blinking one eye and tornadoes with the other. The role of this demon in Zoroastrian fables is to destroy cities and villages and to break down the trees.
