کِخ‌بو در باورهای مردم گیلان، نام یک پرنده یا تلقی صدای یک پرنده است. در داستانی افسانه‌ای آمده است که تازه عروسی در حال دوشیدن شیر گاو بود و پدرشوهر بداخلاقش بر کار او نظارت می‌کرد. مدتی بعد که عروس ظرف شیر را پیش پدر شوهر می‌برد، پدر شوهر می‌گوید که این شیر کمتر از مقداری است که دوشیده شده بوده. سپس عروس را متهم می‌کند که مقداری از شیر را برای خودش برداشته. عروس در دفاع از خودش می‌گوید : « کِخ بو» یعنی « کَف بود» ( در زمان دوشیدن گاو به دلیل اینکه شیر با فشار وارد ظرف می‌شود کف می‌کند و حجمش کمی بیشتر می‌شود).
اما پدر شوهر نمی‌پذیرد و همچنان عروس را متهم می‌کند. عروس دل‌شکسته از خدا می‌خواهد که او را تبدیل به پرنده‌ای کند تا از خانه آن مرد بداخلاق آزاد شود. خدا دعای او را مستجاب می‌کند و آن عروس به صورت پرنده همواره فریاد دادخواهی سر می‌دهد و می‌گوید«کِخ بو» « کِخ بو».

Kekh-boo', in the beliefs of the people of Gilan (northern Iran), is the name of a bird. It is also known as the perception of the sound of a bird. It's told in tales that once, a newlywed was milking the cows under her cranky father-in-law's supervision. A little while after she finished milking the cows, she took the milk to her father-in-law. He claimed that the milk in the bucket was less than the amount she had milked earlier and had taken some of it for herself.

Trying to defend herself, she said 'Kekh boo' or 'Kaf bood', meaning it was foams and bubbles which made the milk look more in the beginning.

Her father-in-law didn't accept what she was saying and still accused her of stealing. Heartbroken, she asked God to turn her into a bird so that she can fly from that house. God granted her wish and turned her into a bird. As a bird, the newlywed kept shouting 'kekh boo', 'kekh boo'.
