Ejdaha | AŽDAHĀ | اژدهای کوه سقیلا

در شاهنامه آمده است که دختر قیصر روم خواستگاری داشت به نام اَهرن. قیصر روم برای اهرن این شرط را گذاشته بود که اگر اژدهای کوه سقیلا را که برای کشور و مردم بلا و گرفتاری درست کرده بود بکشد، اجازه ازدواج می‌دهد.
اهرن که در خود نیروی مقابله با این اژدها را نمی‌دید، با میرین داماد قیصر مشورت می‌کند و در نهایت به جستجوی گشتاسپ می‌پردازد تا از او بخواهد این اژدها را برایش بکشد. گشتاسپ این خواسته را پذیرفت، به کوه سقیلا رفت و اژدها را کشت.

به شمشیر برد آن زمان دست شیر
بزد بر سر اژدهای دلیر

همی ریخت مغزش بران سنگ سخت
ز باره درآمد گو نیکبخت

بکند از دهانش دو دندان نخست
پس آنگه بیامد سر و تن بشست

اهرن جسد اژدهای کوه سقیلا را بر روی گاری‌ای که گاوی آن را می‌کشید انداخت و نزد قیصر رفت. قیصر نیز با دیدن اژدها جشن می‌گیرد و به اهرن و دخترش اجازه ازدواج می‌دهد.

It is mentioned in the Shahnameh that the daughter of the Roman emperor had a suitor named Ahran. However, the Roman emperor had made a condition for Ahran that he only would allow him to marry her daughter if he killed the dragon of Mount Saqila, which had caused trouble for the country and the people.
Unable to resist the dragon, Ahren consults with the emperor's son-in-law, Mirin, and eventually seeks out Goshtasp to ask him to kill the dragon. Goshtasp accepted this request, went to Mount Saqila, and killed the dragon.
Ahran threw the dragon's body on the cart that the cow was pulling and went to the emperor. The emperor celebrated seeing the dragon dead and allowed Ahran and his daughter to marry.
