Shagrkirband | شَگرکیربَند

شَگرکیربَند - یا شگرکیربندان (جمع) نام یک جفت دیو به شکل شیر در باور مانوی است. این دو موجود توسط آز، مادر همه‌ی دیوان، در آفرینش سوم خلق شدند. از آنجایی که در باور مانوی از دو آفرینش پیشین انسان های پاکیزه باقی نماند، پیام آور سومی فرستاده شد به نام رُشْنْشَهرزاد تا بذر دیوان در انسان را از بین ببرد. آز که این را یک خطر می‌دید، شگرکیربندان را به صورت نر و ماده برای جفت‌گیری و تولید نسل ایجاد کرد. این کار انجام شد و حاصلشان توسط آز و شگرکیربندان بلعیده شدند و دو انسان نخست در آفرینش سوم، به نام گهمورد و مردیاناگ به وجود آمدند.

Šagrkirband - or šagrkirbandan (plural) are the names given a pair of lion-shaped demons in Manichean belief (Ancient Iranian Religion). These two demons were created by Az, the mother of all demons, in what is called The Third creation. Since the previous two creations failed to produce unpolluted humans, a third messenger was sent to wipe humans' seed of demons. Az, seeing this as a danger, created the Šagrkirbandan as a male and female to mate and produce offspring. This was done and the offspring were devoured by Az and the Šagrkirbandan and produced the first two humans in the third creation named, Gēhmurd and Murdiyānag.
