Spanjarosh | دیو اِسپَنجَروش

«اِسپِنجَر» یا «اِسپَنجَروش» همکار دیواَپوش (دیو خشکسالی) است. این دیو که در ابر‌ها مسکن دارد، دشمن آتش وازَشت (آذرخش) است و به همراه اَپوش از بارش باران جلوگیری می‌کند.
در روایت‌ها می‌خوانیم در ابتدای آفرینش هنگامی که تیشتر (ایزد باران‌زایی) می‌کوشد تا آب را در زمین پخش کند، در دریای فراخکرد میان او و اَپوش دیو نبرد سختی درمی‌گیرد. در پایان، تیشتر اَپوش را شکست می‌دهد و پس از آن با گرز خود بر ابر‌ها می‌کوبد و آتشی به وجود می‌آید که اسپنجر از این آتش می‌ترسد. او می‌غرّد، از بین می‌رود و سپس باران می‌آید. در باور‌های زردشتی «برق» همان آتشی است که از کوبیده شدن گرز تیشتر بر ابر‌ها پدید می‌آید و «رعد» همان صدای خروش اسپنجروش است. در بندهش می‌خوانیم که علت شوری آب دریا‌ها این است که دیو اپوش با تیشتر و اسپنجروش با آتش وازشت جنگیده‌اند و بارانی شور حاصل شده که دریا‌ها واقیانوس‌ها را پر کرده است.

The demon Spongerosh is the helper of a demon named Apposh, who is destroyed by "Vazasht" or lightning, after its destruction, rain starts to fall.
Its narration is that, when Tishtar (the god of rain) starts to rain, she finds Spongerosh and Aposh in front of her; The fire moves its mace and heats the drops of water in the sky clouds; As a result of the impact of that hit, the Spanjarosh growls and roars, this roar is the one heard from the thunder before the rain.
In some narrations, the reason for the saltiness of the seawater is known to be the battle between demon Aposh and Spanjarosh with Tishtar, who fought over the rain and as a result, there was thunder and lightning and a salty rain that poured its water into the seas and oceans.
