NaarDoon

An Open Library of Iranian/Persianate Visual Elements

Since the 13th century, masters of Persian Miniature Painting have gone through years of grueling training to create intricate, stylistically loyal art.

Today, tools like Photoshop and digital repositories allow us to pay hommage to the masters and their craft while also adapting their art for modern purposes.

The goal of this open-source library is to promote and accelerate the use of Iranian visual language in modern graphic design.

The process:

  • Any one can contribute to the NaarDoon Library! Instructions on how to add your submissions below. Each time you contribute, your name is automatically entered into the official record. The top ten contributors are automatically displayed on this page.

  • Anyone can use the images! Please credit the NaarDoon library and submit your work so we can feature it!

NaarDoon means “a place where pomegranate seeds are gathered”. This aptly-named library is all about savoring and replanting these culturally important kernels.
