در باور مردمان حاشیه‌ی خلیج‌فارس موجودی به نام «آنشِرتو» وجود دارد. او دوزیستی چابک با سر کوچک و بسیار سبک است که مثل انسان سخن می‌گوید و دارای خانواده است. «آنشِرتو»ها زیر کتفشان زائده‌ای مانند باله‌ی ماهی دارند که می‌توانند با کمک آن، مانند ماهی شنا کنند.
روایت است که عده‌ای با کشتی به جزیره ماهی‌ها که آنشرتوها در آن جا زندگی می‌کردند، رسیدند و تعدادی از آن‌ها را به اسارت گرفتند. وقتی ملوانان به میانه‌ی دریا رسیدند، با تعجب دیدند که «آنشِرتو»ها خود را از کشتی به دریا انداختند و فرار کردند. تنها یکی از «آنشِرتو»ها قادر به فرار نبود. او دختری بود که در زیرزمین کشتی محبوس شده بود و تلاش داشت که کف کشتی را سوراخ کند و بگریزد؛ اما ناخدا مانع شد. ناخدا با آن دختر ازدواج کرد و از او صاحب شش فرزند شد. اما حتی بعد از ازدواج هم بر پای «آنشِرتو» بند زده بود تا فرار نکند. فرزندان بعد از مدتی بند را از پای مادر باز کردند و او فرار کرد و به آب گریخت.

In the belief of the people of the Persian Gulf, there is a creature called "Ansherto". He is an agile amphibian with a small head, who speaks like a human and has a family. Anshertos have a fin-like appendage under their shoulder that they can use to help them swim like fish.
It is a tradition that some people arrived with the fishing ships where the Ansherto lived and captured a few of them. When the sailors reached the middle of the sea, they were surprised to see that the Anshertos threw themselves overboard and ran away. Only one of them was not able to escape. She was a girl who was locked in the basement of the ship and tried to break through the bottom of the ship and escape, but the captain prevented her. The captain married that girl and had six children with her. But even after marriage, he tied her feet in the fear that she would run away. After some time, the children untied the mother's leg and fled into the sea.
