اَشَقلون نام جانوری دیوزاد در اساطیر مانوی است که بهمراه جفت خود به نام پیسوس برای بلعیدن پاره های نور رها شده در سرزمین تاریکی توسط اهریمن آفریده می شوند. پاره های نور خدایانی که از امهرسپندان بودند و در سرزمین پلیدی محبوس شده بودند توسط این دوجانور خورده شده و پس از همبستری آنان انسان های نخستین به نام‌های گهمرد و مردیانه پدید می آیند. آنها که وجودشان از نور محبوس در جسم دیوی بود پاره هایی از آز و خشم و شهوت دیوان را نیز باخود به ارث برده بودند.
In 'Manichaean' mythology, there's a creature called 'Ashghaloun'. Ashghaloun and its twin, Pisous, were both 'Div-zad' (literally translates to 'demon-born'). The devil created them to devour the small rays of light that appeared in the Land of Darkness. They belonged to the Deities, who were one of Amhar-sepandān (children of the first man ever created, according to Manichaeism). The Deities were locked in the land of evil. Ashghaloun and Pisous ate the rays of light, and after mating with the Deities, they created two human beings named, Gahmard and Mardiyaneh. They had the rays of light inside them, which were devoured by the demons, parts of Āz, and other demons' anger and lust inside them.
