بوشاسپ(بوشیاست)، ماده دیوی است که در آدمیان حس تنبلی و کسلی ایجاد می‌کند و لذت خواب صبحگاهی را که مقاومت در برابر آن دشوار است به او نسبت می‌دهند. معمولا با صفت دره غوگو (dareghō gava) به معنی دراز دست از او یاد می‌شود. در فرگرد هجدهم وندیداد می‌خوانیم هنگامی که خروس به دستور سروش، آواز بلند سر می‌دهد که :«ای انسان برخیز و نمازت را به جای آور، به دیو‌ها نفرین بفرست. اگر نه، دیو دراز دست، بوشاسپ، بر شما غالب آمده دوباره جهان را که بیدار شده به خواب می‌اندازد و می‌گوید: "ای انسان خوش بخواب که هنوز وقت بیدار شدن تو فرا نرسیده، تو را با آن سه چیز بهتر از همه _پندار نیک، گفتار نیک، کردارد نیک_ کاری نباشد.”» در فرهنگ‌های فارسی، بوشاسپ به معنی خواب و رویا و همچنین خواب دیدن آمده است.

[Bushasp] or [Bushiast], is a female Div that causes drowsiness and laziness in people. The pleasure behind sleeping early in the morning comes from her. She's usually mentioned as [Dareghō gava], which means [the one with long hands].
In the 18th Fargard (each section of the Avesta is called a Fargard) of Vendidad (a collection of texts within the greater compendium of the Avesta) is said that 'when in the order of Sroasha (Angel of Conscience), the rooster started singing, "wake up human. Wake up and start praying. Curse the demons or Bushasp will come and put the world to sleep saying, 'sleep. It's not the time for you to open your eyes yet. You shouldn't care about the Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds." In the Iranian culture, Bushasp means 'dream' and dreaming.
