: روایت محلی
در میان اهالی حومه‌ی کاشان روایتی بوده که روزی شخصی نیکوکار تنگدست می‌شود و ذخیره‌ی گندم او رو به پایان می‌کشد. به هنگام ناراحتی پیرمردی را می‌بیند که از او احوالش را می‌پرسد. پس از آن پیرمرد، که در این باور همان خضر نبی است، یک مشت گندم به او می‌دهد تا در ذخیره‌ی گندم هایش بریزد و از او می‌خواهد که با کسی در این باره سخن نگوید. مرد همین کار را انجام می‌دهد و تا مدتها بدون اینکه گندم ها تمام شود از آن استفاده می‌کند، تا زمانی که داستان را به آشنایی بازگو می‌کند و وقتی به خانه اش برمی‌گردد می‌یابد که گندم ها تمام شده.
همچنین باور بوده که هرشخصی که ۴۰ روز هر صبح درب عبادتگاهی را جارو کند به شکلی که هیچ چشمی او را نبیند، می تواند خضر را ببیند و حاجت خود را از او بطلبد.

Khedr, or Khedr the Prophet, is the name of a supernatural figure in the beliefs of many Iranians and neighboring countries. People said Khedr would appear to those who clean the doorsteps of a place of worship for forty days without being seen. In one story, Khedr appeared in front of a righteous man with financial problems. His family’s grain stash was finishing quickly, and he didn't know how to restock it, so he prayed to the lord. Khedr then appeared in front of him and gave him a hand full of grain. He said, 'put this with the rest of your supply, and it shall never end. But remember not to talk about this to anyone.' The man did as such and saw that his grain did not run out. Later he talked to a friend about what had happened and broke the promise. Once he returned home, he found that all the grains were gone.
