خِدرِ زنده در میان مردم کُرد در شمال غربی ایران، مردی‌ست که تبدیل به فرشته‌ای مقدس شده است. داستان خدرِ زنده را اینطور تعریف می‌کنند که او مردی لاابالی بود که شبی مست از میخانه بیرون می‌آید و در کوچه‌های روستا قدم می‌زند.
ناگهان متوجه کاغذی می‌شود که روی زمین افتاده و نام خدا بر آن نوشته شده است. او کاغذ را برمی‌دارد و چون جای مناسبی برای قرار دادنش پیدا نمی‌کند، کاغذ را قورت می دهد تا روی زمین نباشد.
خداوند در آن لحظه گناهان او را می‌بخشد و او را به خاطر این عمل نیکش، به فرشته نگهبانی روی زمین تبدیل می‌کند. خدر زنده در مناطق مختلف حضور دارد و به کودکان یتیم یا کسانی که در خطر اجنه هستند کمک می‌کند.

Khidr-e-Zendeh, according to the Kurdish people of northwestern Iran, is a man who turned into an angel. They say that he used to be an irresponsible man. One night, after getting drunk, he got out of the bar and started walking in the alleys. He noticed a paper on the ground with the word 'God' written on it. He picked it up and tried to find a better place to put the piece of paper on. After failing to find a better place, he swallowed the piece of paper. Seeing what the man did, God forgave all his sins and turned him into a guardian angel on earth.
Khidr-e-Zendeh attends many places and helps orphans or people in danger of genies.
