MASHEE & MASHYANE
Mashee va Mashyaneh | مَشی و مَشیانِه

در اساطیر ایران به روایت بُندَهِشن، هنگامی که اهریمن به جهان اورمزدی حمله کرد، کیومرث (اولین انسان) به دست دیوان کشته شد. کیومرث به هنگام مرگ بر روی دست چپ خود افتاد و از او نطفه‌ای خارج شد. نطفه‌ی کیومرث چهل سال در زمین ماند و بعد از چهل سال گیاهی مانند ریواس از آن رویید. از این گیاه «مَشی و مَشیانه» (یا مهله و مهلانه) پدیدار شدند که به‌هم‌پیوسته بودند، و مشخص نبود کدام نر و کدام ماده است.
«مَشی و مَشیانه» از فرشتگان، کشاورزی، برافروختن آتش و دوشیدن بز را یاد گرفتند.
آنان تا پنجاه سال آمیزش نکردند و بعد از پنجاه سال میل جنسی در آن‌ها بیدار شد. بعد از نُه ماه دو فرزند به دنیا آورند؛ اما از شدت لذّت و شیرینی فرزند یکی را مادر خورد و یکی را پدر.
اورمزد اندیشه‌ی فرزندخواری را از ذهنشان بیرون آورد و اندیشه‌ی پرورش فرزند را به آنان بخشید. بعد از آن، هفت جفت فرزند نر و ماده از «مَشی و مَشیانه» پدید آمد که نیای مردم زمین شمرده می‌شوند.نگارش: زینب هاشمی
Mashya and Mashyana were the first man and woman whose procreation gave rise to the human race based on Zoroastrian cosmology. Based on Bundahishn, When Ahriman (devil) invaded the world of AhuraMazda, Kiomars were killed by evil spirits. Kiomars fell into his left hand at his death, and sperm came out of him. The sperm of Kiomars remained on the earth for forty years. And in forty years, with the shape of a one-stemmed Rivas-plant, Mashya, and Mashyana grew up from the earth. They were so connected that it was unclear which was the male and which was the female. They learned farming, lighting fire, and milking goats from angels. They did not have sex for fifty years, and sexual desire awoke in them after this time. From them was born in nine months a pair, and owing to tenderness for offspring the mother devoured one, and the father one. Ahura Mazda took this tenderness away, so that one may nourish a child. After that, seven pairs of male and female offspring emerged from them, who are believed to be the human race's ancestors.
